Start by fixing mom a healthy brunch like a fresh, organic salad of dark leafy greens, nuts and berries with our own BōKU® balsamic vinaigrette dressing.

Encourage mom to get some exercise by taking her on a hike outdoors, go for a walk, jog or bike ride together. You can even challenge mom to a game of tennis or swimming race. Not only will you be spending quality time together, but all of the movement will get your heart pumping and make you and mom feel fantastic!

Give mom a sustainable, eco-friendly gift. Organic flowers are a nice choice, all natural candles, soaps or skin care products are good as well – mariessoap.com has a great selection. Or you could go the homemade route and bake mom a batch of gluten free sugar cookies you can find recipes at: http://bit.ly/bmunKr. Or get creative with a recycled paper card, perfect for kids.

Or you can give mom something to help her be more eco-friendly again and again for free! For every new order using the discount code MOM2010 we will send you a free reusable BōKU® Chico sling! For auto-ship orders, just send an email to customerservice@bokusuperfood.com with the coupon code and we will add the free bag to your next shipment! Moms can get this for themselves too!

Top off a lovely Mother’s Day with a fabulous healthy dinner! Try a nice vegetarian spinach lasagna or mushroom stroganoff, you can find plenty of recipes at chooseveg.com/vegan-dinner-recipes.asp

Many of our customers have had some pretty good questions about our new Super Protein Powder, so we sent them to our Master Formulator and here are his responses:

1. Why do I need extra protein?

Protein is the major building block of the body. It is absolutely essential for body structure and function. Protein is needed to build strong bones and muscles. Enzymes, immune factors, and many hormones are made from protein. Without sufficient protein, the body will deteriorate.

2. What is the main benefit to adding Boku Super Protein to Boku Super Food?

To enjoy a large quantity of highly absorbable, delicious organic protein along with the full-spectrum of phytonutrients and other highly potent properties of Boku Super Food.

3. Why did you choose brown rice protein over whey, soy or even hemp protein? Is it actually better? If so, why?

Our organic certified, whole grain brown rice protein is sprouted to significantly increase its nutritional density. It is considered a raw food and is hypoallergenic. It has the full spectrum of amino acids and is very highly absorbable. Soy and whey proteins can be significant allergens. Soy is quite controversial for its anti –nutrients and potential hormonal effects. Many soy and whey proteins are heated to very high temperatures during their production, which can potentially create a protein that’s less than healthy. Hemp protein has many beneficial properties, although its intense taste is hard for many people to stomach.

Thanks Dr. BJ!

What made you go into the naturopathic field?

When I was a teenager, I saw my grandparents killed by being prescribed multiple prescription medications. I wanted to find a better way to help people to become healthier, and live their lives without running from doctor to doctor. Naturopathic Medicine is a comprehensive approach to health. Even though I can prescribe prescription medications, I have so many tools to help a person get well and live a good life, I rarely prescribe drugs.

How did you come up with the BõKU™ formula?

BõKU™ Super Food is the product of my many years of study and practice in the field of naturopathic and nutritional medicine, combined with BõKU™ International’s mission to create the most potent, nutrient dense and health creating formula ever. The mandate required that there could be no fillers of any kind and that every ingredient in BõKU™ Super Food was there for a reason. On top of that, the blend had to be USDA certified Organic and taste good! This was perhaps the most challenging aspect of creating the BõKU™ formula given the unparalleled nutritional value of this incredibly potent blend of ingredients. I designed BõKU™ Super Food to appeal to the masses and support the body’s inner cleansing of its cells and organs. This is so important in the highly toxic environment in which most of us live. On the other hand, cleansing too quickly can deplete the body of nutrients and energy. Therefore, I carefully balanced BõKU™ with super rejuvenating foods, that help revitalize the body. I chose each BõKU™ Super Food ingredient to create a powerful synergy to help people move to their next level.

What is the most difficult part of formulating?

Formulating is challenging on many fronts. Once I determine the benefits I want to offer in a formula, I have to source ingredients from around the world. This is made even more complex because we are only using certified organic, kosher, and vegan ingredients in BõKU™ Super Food. It’s an extremely rewarding challenge to only use the world’s finest ingredients, create a vision for the nutritional profile, get the taste and texture right, and design an overall experience that people will want again and again.

Thanks Dr BJ!
